P2P - is it pirate to pirate?

Free Music ! But is it legal ?

In the 80's a German found a way to change the makeup of the sounds we hear when listening to a modern CD.
Using a computer, information is stored on what's known as the 'Hard Drive'. Specific software programs interpret this data to operate the hardware components to achieve the desired function, such as listening to a song, information is sent to your sound card to be transformed into an audio signal and sent to your computers speakers.
The term MP3 refers to MPEG Layer 3 and is a way of storing an audio signal in a compressed format, meaning it takes up less space on your hard drive. If you were to transfer songs in MP3 format onto a CD you could fit between 10 and 20 albums.
Because of the reduction in the size, MP3 has become the most popular way of sharing music on the internet and more recently has been used with streaming technology, meaning that you choose a song and it is heard immediately, and also has allowed internet radio stations to start up with immediate world coverage.
This year saw the release of MP3 hardware devices, this allows the transferring of MP3 files to a portable Walkman style player (shame they left out traditional radio) Now mobile phones have jumped on the bandwagon with devices such as WAP and new merges between hardware and Entertainment corporations are pushing the concept of free entertainment and free music.
Free Music? You'd immediately wonder how does a composer or musician ever hope to make a living (if you've got a heart)
Actively surprisingly musicians and all artists alike have always had the raw end of the deal when it comes to handing out the money (By the way where is the $$$ ????) .
The internet and MP3  is giving the artists the opportunity to take control and become self-empowered and explore the new art forms. If you take the time to think about it, the amount of merchandise already available not only provides an income but also promotion it's a wonder that all music isn't already free, or is it ???!!!
